Fell Types
The Fell Types are originally by John Fell (23 June 1625 – 10 July 1686).
The types were recreated in a computer font by Igino Marini.
The fonts are under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1. The font files are widely available across the Internet in a variety of versions and formats. The OTF format is preferred, as I think it will work better with LaTeX microtype. Here is one location that has OTF and a recent version.

Period ·
The · symbol is used upstream to mark the end of a sentence.
Put each Toki Pona sentence on it's own line:
s/· /·\r/
To make sure it doesn't hang on a line by itself, this subtitution is used:
s/ ·/\~·/
Misc regex
To quickly add \pend and \pstart:
s/^$/\\pend\r\\pstart/
Remove empty lines around \pend:
s/\n\\pend/\\pend/
Or like this:
s/\\pend\n/\\pend/
Quotes
In LaTeX, at least in the olden days, quotes had to be replaced with backticks. It appears XeLaTeX doesn't require this anymore, so no subtitutions are done.

The book will be printed by Lulu, which can also distribute.
There are various project forms to be filled out.

Details
- Description (required):
Hermann Hesse (July 2nd, 1877 – August, 9th 1962) wrote Siddhartha in 1922 during a period in his life in which he suffered what he described as a “sickness with life.” He claimed to be unable to complete the book because he had not experienced the kind of nirvana that Siddhartha, the main character, wants to achieve—so Hesse surrounded himself with sacred Buddhist and Hindu teachings and lived as a recluse in order to complete this work.
Siddhartha is a short, simple tale of a man’s quest to achieve enlightenment and happiness. Over twelve short chapters, four of which are included in this text, the reader follows Siddhartha through his time as a young adult, to his exploration of spirituality as a traveling ascetic, to his delvings in lust, business, and greed, to his time as an old man. At each stage of his life, Siddhartha yearns for nirvana, finally achieving it only after realizing that it’s all of life’s experiences that form it, not the teachings of any one man.
Today, Siddhartha remains an influential text in new Western spirituality.
Originally written in German, this bilingual, parallel text edition of part one has been translated into Toki Pona and English.

HOWTO print the document locally, and bind into a book.
Note, this isn't just how to print the document. This is how to print it so it can be bound into a book. For instance, depending on the size of the "signatures" (section/gathering), page 24 won't come after page 23. It may be next to page 9 or whatever. This is because they get folded in the center, and then stuffed in the middle. If there are multiple signatures, this gets more complicated. XXX I'll 'splain better later. XXX

Printing & Collating
-
Print all odd sheets Documents are coming out text face down with top of the page on the right hand side of the printer, facing front of printer In print preview it shows top on right-hand side. NOT REVERSE
-
Print all even sheets in reverse Load paper face down, with top of page on left. In print preview it shows top on left-hand side.
This is actually ok as it makes a number of nice small signatures. I think will need to be put in reverse order after print job finishes, so perhaps print even sheets in reverse first, then odd normally (?)
On duplex printer: two-sided "Short Edge".

Cover
- After receiving Lulu proof, check cover colors (RGB vs. CMYK).
Main
- Update copyright page.
- Remove "XXX DRAFT NOT FINAL".
- Be sure PDF is of a tag (e.g.
v0.5.0). - Remove red zero, start counting print versions.
- Brahmin is "Paman" in some locations, but not others (?).
- "Paman" should be "Pamin" in most places (?).
- The Gutenberg text has "Brahman" in many places where it should have "Brahmin". Standard Ebooks fixes this. But it may still be mixed in the Toki Pona translation.
- The chapter "The Son of the Brahmin" doesn't use "Paman", but "jan sona sewi". But in other places uses "Paman" for Brahmin (Brahman, incorrectly).
- Upanishad is translated "Upanisa" and "lipu sewi". Not consistent.
- "Om" in English, "On" in the translation appears more times in the first paragraph in the Toki Pona translation. Why? XXX
Misc
- Add git tag to pdf filenames.
- Check ideal paper.
- Check margins.
- Check if too close/far from gutter.
Local Print
- Write docs on printing signatures.
- Write docs on binding book.
- Convert signature printing script to Makefile.
License
The combination of the two texts into a single work in LaTeX and the resultant PDF is also placed in the public domain.
