The program is processing waterfall PNGs from the SatNOGS network. The machine learning is built from this PNG data set. There were approximately 180,000 SatNOGS observations in December, 2019. Around half of that is archived into the current data set available for Tensorflow processing. The PNGs were created from Ogg audio files which were uploaded by SatNOGS ground stations to the central network.satnogs.org server. The Ogg files were created by IQ data generated by GNU Radio. The original IQ data is unavailable. The best source data is the Ogg file, not the PNG. But the PNG data is also useful. The Ogg files are being downloaded from archive.org to save on SatNOGS bandwidth. But the archive.org repository lags weeks behind the main SatNOGS network. There are also many other data sources. So to improve the rating accuracy, more data sources should be considered. List of potential data sources to rate an observation:

  • SatNOGS Waterfall.
  • JSON Metadata.
  • SatNOGS Audio.
  • Demodulated data.
  • TLEs.
  • Data from external,non-SatNOGS sources:
    • Weather
